LinkedIn Top Companies 2024 in Singapore: DBS, Standard Chartered, OCBC, Singlife in the list

SINGAPORE — Homegrown bank DBS retained the top spot on the LinkedIn Top Companies 2024 list for Singapore, according to the social media company.

The annual list, released on Tuesday (16 April), is the fourth edition in Singapore and features the top 15 companies where professionals can grow their careers.

It uses data from LinkedIn to rank the companies based on eight pillars that have been shown to lead to career progression: ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity, educational background, and employee presence in the country.

Only six companies from last year retained their placement on this year's list. According to LinkedIn, this indicated "a significant turnover in featured companies", which suggested that "more firms are investing in attracting top talents and helping employees create meaningful careers".

Schneider Electric, a new addition to the list, took the second spot. The company specialises in energy management and automation solutions and offers integrated solutions for various sectors, such as energy and infrastructure, industrial processes, building automation, and data centres.

Financial institutions dominate list

More than half of the companies featured on this year's list were financial institutions, with eight firms providing services from banking to insurance and digital payments. This was an increase from the five financial services firms that featured in last year's list.

DBS, which has retained the top spot for two consecutive years, rose from the 15th spot in the 2021 list. Other financial services firms that made the list this year include Standard Chartered Bank, which came in third place, followed by American Express and OCBC, which came in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Singlife, a subsidiary of Japanese insurer Sumitomo Life Insurance Company, came in at number six, while Mastercard came in 10th place. Meanwhile, financial analysis company S&P Global ranked 13th, while HSBC Bank took up the last spot on the list at number 15.

Healthcare makes a strong showing

Companies in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biomedical sectors made an impressive mark, with five companies featured on the list. Only two such firms were featured in the 2023 list.

According to LinkedIn, this reflected "increasing demand in these services as well as where professionals can grow their skill and careers".

Health sector companies featured on the list include biotechnology research firm Roche, a repeat entrant from the 2023 list that came in at number 12, and medical equipment manufacturer BD, which came in at number eight. This was followed by global healthcare company Abbott at number nine and pharmaceutical company Takeda at number 11.
