GameStop saga, Nvidia vs. Apple, Campbell Soup CEO: Catalysts

The May jobs report revealed a hotter-than-expected addition of 272,000 nonfarm jobs to the US economy, over 90,000 more than economists predicted. Shares of popular meme stock GameStop (GME) are falling after the company announced it would sell 75 million class A shares of its stock. In addition, popular social media meme stock investor Keith Gill is set to host a YouTube livestream on Friday discussing the stock.  Tech giant Nvidia (NVDA) briefly saw its valuation surpass the $3 trillion mark this week, temporarily dethroning Apple (AAPL) as the second most valuable company in the world. This achievement cements Nvidia's position alongside tech titans Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple as the only companies to have attained such a feat. The Campbell Soup Company (CPB)posted its third quarter earnings, revealing a 6% year-over-year increase in net sales that totaled $2.23 billion. The company says the sales were due in part to its acquisition of Sovos Brands. Campbell CEO Mark Clouse sits down with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi to give insight into the company's earnings. Can Nvidia sustain $3T valuation over Apple?

Tech giant Nvidia (NVDA) briefly saw its valuation surpass the $3 trillion mark this week, temporarily dethroning Apple (AAPL) as the second most valuable company in the world. As Apple and Nvidia engage in a tug-of-war for the second-place spot, questions arise about which company can sustain such an enormous valuation over the long term. Friday jobs data, Nvidia stock split: Market Domination Overtime

On today's episode of Market Domination Overtime, Yahoo Finance's Jared Blikre and Julie Hyman break down the market close and the trading day's biggest stories. The major indexes (^DJI,^GSPC, ^IXIC) closed largely unchanged on Thursday as Wall Street awaits the May jobs report releasing on Friday morning. The jobs report will be examined by the Federal Reserve as it weighs its next interest rate decision. As the European Central Bank cut interest rates for the first time since 2019, former Kansas City Federal Reserve president Esther George believes the move reflects the fact that inflation was "really a global phenomenon" with distinct regional dynamics. As the tech industry continues to be a key catalyst for the economy, Nvidia (NVDA) remains a top player. The chip giant will execute a 10-for-1 stock split on Friday after the closing bell, and recently crossed $3 trillion market capitalization. Jennison Associates Head of Global Equity Mark Baribeau says the company has an "amazing story," with a never-before-seen revenue growth. He adds that Nvidia will remain a "distinct leader" in this fourth era of computing with generative AI. Finally, Jared Blikre gives an overview of what to watch on Friday, June 7th, highlighting "Roaring Kitty's" livestream set for noon Eastern time — his first livestream since the 2021 GameStop (GME) short squeeze.
