    Mitsui and Rohto to buy $594 mln Chinese medicines company Eu Yan Sang

    Japan's Mitsui & Co said on Thursday it had teamed up with Rohto Pharmaceutical Co to buy Eu Yan Sang International in a deal valuing the Singapore-based traditional Chinese medicines firm at S$800 million ($594 million). Mitsui said in a statement that a special purpose company jointly owned by Mitsui and Rohto would acquire around 86% of Eu Yan Sang from Righteous Crane Holding. Righteous Crane Holding is owned by a fund managed by Tower Capital Asia, a unit of Temasek Holdings and founding family members of Eu Yan Sang, according to a separate statement issued by Tower Capital Asia on Thursday.

    Japan's Mitsui to invest in Atlas Lithium in the US

    Japan's Mitsui & Co said on Thursday the company agreed to invest in Atlas Lithium Corporation in the United States by subscribing to a $30 million third-party allocation of new shares by the U.S. company. Atlas is developing a lithium mine project in Brazil's Lithium Valley. The project in Brazil is expected to start production in the fourth quarter of 2024, with its annual production to reach 300,000 tons of spodumene concentrate, which would be enough to be used in about 1 million electric vehicles, Mitsui said.
