October will mark the tenth anniversary of Lisa Su’s appointment as CEO of Advanced Micro Devices a stretch in which the chip maker’s shares have increased nearly 40 times—among other things, making Su a billionaire. AMD has made huge strides in the past decade in its competition with Intel for control of the PC and server microprocessor markets. While AMD is a distant second-place player in AI chips, Su, 54, sees a huge opportunity to be a valid alternative to the market leader.
