LONDON (Reuters) - British mobile operator Virgin Media O2 (VM O2) and Tesco, the country's biggest supermarket chain, said on Wednesday they had signed a 10-year renewal of their Tesco Mobile 50-50 joint venture.

Tesco Mobile, established in 2003, is Britain's biggest mobile virtual network operator, with more than 5.5 million customers. It uses VM O2's network.

"This renewal will ensure that our customers can continue to benefit from excellent connectivity across the UK, while enjoying all the benefits of supermarket mobile, including exclusive deals with Clubcard Prices," Tesco UK Chief Executive Jason Tarry said in a statement.

VM O2 is jointly owned by Telefonica and Liberty Global.
