Upcoming HDB BTO launch pushed back to end September

The next HDB BTO launch would have taken place at the end of August.

SINGAPORE — The Housing and Development Board (HDB) will hold the next Build-To-Order (BTO) sales exercise at the end of September, instead of the usual end-August period.

As the ballot results for the May BTO launch have been delayed to the first week of August – instead of July – and the ballot queue numbers for the Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) will be given only in the last week of August, HDB said that the new timeline would allow interested flat applicants to know their queue position before deciding whether to apply for a flat in the next launch.

In addition, the new timeline will also allow HDB to have more time to finalise the system changes needed for the new First-Timer (Parents & Married Couples) priority category and other changes which will take effect from the next sales exercise, such as the tightening of rules for non-selection of flats.

So far, HDB has launched close to 10,000 flats in the first half of this year, with another 13,000 flats expected to be launched in the second half of the year. In the next BTO sales exercise, HDB will offer about 6,700 flats in towns and estates such as Choa Chu Kang, Kallang/Whampoa, Queenstown, and Tengah.

What are the upcoming BTO projects for HDB?

The final sales exercise of 2023, which will be held in December, will see about 6,300 flats in towns or estates such as Bedok, Bishan, Bukit Merah, Bukit Panjang, Jurong West, Queenstown and Woodlands on offer.

Those who intend to buy a flat are required to have a valid HDB Flat Eligibility (HFE) letter when they apply for a new flat from the third quarter 2023 sales exercise onwards. The HFE letter is valid for six months, and buyers are encouraged to apply for their HFE letter by mid-August 2023.
