This Ultra-Rare Lamborghini Countach With Gold Wheels Could Fetch $2.5 Million at Auction

A second chance to buy one of the most coveted and controversial Lamborghinis in recent memory is almost upon us.

RM Sotheby’s will auction off a barely touched 2022 Countach LPI 800-4 next month in Monaco. This example of the hybrid tribute to the Italian marque’s most iconic model is also one of just five finished in Luci del Bosco.

Back in the summer of 2021, Lamborghini announced plans to bring back the legendary Countach as a limited-run hybrid that would cost $2.64 million. For every enthusiast excited about the return of the wedge-shaped supercar, there were those who were disappointed that the brand was making such a big deal about what was basically a re-bodied Aventador. This grumbling wasn’t enough to put off aficionados and collectors, though. Within a week of its unveiling, all 112 planned examples of the nü-Countaches were spoken already for.

The example of the car is one of only five left the Sant’Agata Bolognese in Luci del Bosco. The metallic brown has been appearing on the company’s car since the ’70s and helps bring out the Countach LPI 800–4 sharp lines and dramatic aerodynamic elements. It’s also a very good match for the car’s gold rims. Of the quintet, this is the only one that pairs its base color with a Bianco Leda interior that features Nero Ade accents and bronze contrast stitching.

The Countach LPI 800-4 features the same powertrain as the Sián FKP 37, another high-priced model based on the Aventador. The setup pairs a longitudinally positioned naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 with a 48-volt electrical motor that combines to produce over 800 horses. Thanks to that, the car can rocket from zero to 62 mph in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed of 221 mph. This example, which was originally delivered to Germany, is as close to brand new as you’re going to find, too, with less than 62 miles on the odometer.

If missed out on the Countach LPI 800-4, you’ll get your second chance at the car on Saturday, May 11, during RM Sotheby’s annual Monaco sale. The auction house expects the car to go for between $2 million and $2.5 million which some might call a bargain for the hybrid supercar.
