A driver’s dashcam captured the final, dramatic moments of a police chase involving a collision that prompted the closure of Interstate 95 near Savannah, Georgia, on the afternoon of Friday, June 21.Footage from James Bennett shows a Georgia State Patrol (GSP) trooper performing a PIT maneuver on a suspect’s vehicle, causing it to spin and crash into a median guardrail.Two people then flee the vehicle on foot, with one leaping over the guardrail and across several lanes of northbound traffic, and the other running across the southbound lanes. Both are chased down by troopers and arrested, the footage shows.According to local media, police said the suspects’ vehicle, a gray Volkswagen SUV, matched the description of a vehicle involved in multiple robberies and had fled police in Pooler before being pursued by state troopers.The pursuit ended southwest of Savannah in Chatham County, about a mile from the Bryan County line at the Ogeechee River Bridge, and prompted the closure of southbound lanes of I-95 for at least 1.5 hours. Tesla recalls Cybertrucks, adding to quality doubts
STORY: Tesla faces new worries over the quality of its Cybertrucks. The firm has recalled more than 11,000 of the electric pickups in the U.S.That’s over issues with windshield wipers and loose trim. Analysts say it’s no big surprise about the wipers, which have long been identified as a problem. The Cybertruck’s unusual design forced Tesla to fit huge blades - putting a bigger strain on the motors that move them. Now the problems feed into a perception of wider issues with the vehicles. One analyst told Reuters that the overall build quality of the Cybertruck was “quite poor”. Tesla began delivering the Blade Runner-inspired pickup in late 2023, after years of delay. It’s meant to answer critics who say the firm lacks new models. Mass production is expected to begin in 2025, and Musk has said the target is 200,000 units per year. Tesla hasn’t revealed how many it has shipped so far, however, and skeptics say it may lack mass-market appeal. While recalls of new car models aren’t unusual, it’s relatively rare for Tesla, which often solves problems with over-the-air software updates. It also looks sure to raise unwelcome new questions for the Cybertruck.

Toyota's May global output slides with marked decline in China
Toyota's global production slid for a fourth straight month in May from a year earlier on lower output in many overseas markets, with the decline in China, where local brands have become much more competitive, particularly sharp. In China, production fell 22%. The Japanese automaker also had lower production in markets such as Thailand, Mexico, Brazil and France although the U.S. and Japan saw output grow.
