ST Engineering breaks ground for third hangar in Pensacola, Florida

ST Engineering has broken ground for its third hangar in Pensacola, Florida.

Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering) broke ground for its third aircraft maintenance hangar at the Pensacola International Airport on June 4, expanding on the company’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in North America.

The new 167,000 sq ft hangar is part of ST Engineering’s planned MRO complex in Pensacola, Florida, which will comprise four hangar facilities. Once completed, the hangar will be equipped with two bays that can service widebody aircraft, and is expected to contribute an additional 500,000 man hours annually when fully operational in the second half of 2026.

Notably, the facility’s hangars will be equipped with green and smart technology features, such as what ST Engineering calls “light harvesting skylights” to lower electricity consumption and integrated vertical lift machines to improve operational efficiency.

Furthermore, ST Engineering has also partnered with local power utility company, Florida Power & Light (FPL), to support the facility’s energy needs through renewable energy from FPL’s offsite solar farm.

The Pensacola facility joins the company’s MRO facilities in Mobile, Alabama and San Antonio, Texas. ST Engineering also operates a nacelle manufacturing and MRO facility in Middle River, Maryland, and offers aircraft engine washes through EcoServices in Wethersfield, Connecticut.

President of Commercial Aerospace, Jeffrey Lam, says: “We continue to look to the future with the construction of our third hangar in Pensacola that will expand our airframe MRO capacity, allowing us to better meet our customers’ growing maintenance needs, drive business growth and strengthen our presence in the region.”

“Our expansion in Pensacola aligns with the group’s commitment to invest in its core business and is poised to strengthen our aerospace MRO network in the U.S. and globally,” adds ST Engineering North America President, Timothy McBride.

Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves concludes: “We look forward to the continued partnership with ST Engineering that will help to position Pensacola as a regional centre of excellence for the aviation MRO industry.”

As at 11.30 am, shares in ST Engineering are trading three cents higher or 0.743% up at $4.07.
