Foodies have been raving about Spain for a while, but it’s now official: The European hub is home to the world’s best restaurant.

The ranking of the best dining establishments in the world was revealed Wednesday night, with Spain’s Disfrutar taking top honors. That restaurant, run by chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casanas, placed second on last year’s list.

The rankings come from members of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy, made up of chefs, food writers and other industry experts. All totaled, Spain claimed three of the top five spots on this year’s list—and six total.

Disfrutar, in Barcelona, has been a regular on the list since 2018, debuting at No. 19 and climbing ever since. Because of its win this year, it will not be eligible to make the list moving forward. Among the gastronomic offerings it serves are a caviar-filled Panchino doughnut and a frozen gazpacho sandwich. The restaurant offers two parallel menus of 30 courses.

“We want to dedicate this award to the gastronomy in our country, and to all the people who worked and keep working to build this marvelous profession,” said Xatruch.

Chef Victor Arguinzoniz’s Asador Etxebarri, located in Atxondo, Spain, was this year’s runner-up. That restaurant specializes in barbecue cuisine. Among American restaurants, New York City’s Atomix topped the list. And Hong Kong’s Wing was the highest-ranking debut this year, coming in at number 20.

Here’s a look at 2024's 10 best restaurants in the world:
