Society of Interventional Radiology Selects 27 Fellows

Group Chosen for Achievements in Research, Scientific Literature, Teaching and Leadership Announced at Annual Scientific Meeting in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - April 04, 2016) - The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) elevated 27 new Fellows during SIR's Annual Scientific Meeting, April 2-7 in Vancouver. This honor, achieved by fewer than 10 percent of SIR members, is presented to those who have demonstrated excellence in research, published works, teaching or leadership within the field of interventional radiology and have made significant contributions to SIR in particular.

"This honor is bestowed on those members who demonstrate a passionate commitment to improving medical practice by developing, testing and implementing breakthrough minimally invasive, image-guided treatments," said SIR President Alan H. Matsumoto, M.D., FSIR, who is professor and chair of the department of radiology and medical imaging at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. "Each new Fellow has demonstrated that commitment through research, patient care and mentorship of interventional radiologists in training."
