SingPost expands network with launch of first standalone POPStop in Tampines
According to SingPost, more standalone stations will launched at other main transportation nodes in time to come.
Singapore Post (SingPost) has launched its first standalone POPStop at Tampines MRT station on March 28, expanding its network of e-commerce touchpoints.
According to SingPost, more standalone stations will launched at other main transportation nodes in time to come.
The move reflects the continued partnership between SingPost and SMRT’s business arm, Stellar Lifestyle.
The latest POPStop will feature a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered digital assistant, which is a first-of-its-kind service pilot for the group. The AI assistant will interact with SingPost’s customers, answer frequently asked questions, as well as dispense labels and postage stamps. The assistant will enable SingPost’s customer service teams to handle more complex inquiries, says SingPost.
In addition, SingPost announced that its POPDrop, a self-service box solution, will soon be deployed in selected heartland areas from May. The solution is said to offer a secure and efficient way for merchants and consumers to drop off or return smaller items.
Eight more POPDrops are planned for rollout across Singapore in the following months.
“Aligned to our ‘Moving People, Enhancing Lifestyles’ vision, we are delighted to continue and strengthen our collaboration with SingPost in delivering greater convenience to our commuters and helping SME [or small- and medium-sized enterprise] merchants through POPStop@Tampines, which was first showcased and validated at our innovation sandbox Hive by Stellar Lifestyle in Esplanade MRT station,” says Tony Heng, president of Stellar Lifestyle.
“Bringing to life innovative solutions – like POPStop – shows how we are exploring new ways to transform our spaces in and around our transit network into vibrant lifestyle destinations. Through these initiatives, Stellar Lifestyle continues with our ‘Do Right, Do Good and Do Well’ efforts in supporting the growth of our local SMEs,” he adds.
Neo Su Yin, CEO of SingPost Singapore says, “I am heartened to be collaborating with like-minded partners to bring relevant e-commerce services closer to daily commutes and the heartlands, offering greater convenience for small businesses and customers.”
“The addition of standalone POPStops at MRT stations and new POPDrops boosts the connectivity within our existing infrastructure network, making it more pervasive. By aggressively developing our Out-of-Home (OOH) capabilities, we aim to solidify our leadership in the e-commerce landscape, making every delivery count for our customers,” she adds.
As at 11am, shares in SingPost are trading 1 cent lower or 2.35% down at 41.5 cents.
