Property developer SingHaiyi has appointed Japanese contractor Nakano Singapore as the main contractor for its upcoming condo, the 440-unit Sora. The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site on April 29.

The upcoming condo is located along Yuan Ching Road, fronting Jurong Lake Gardens. Sora is a redevelopment of the former Park View Mansion, which sits on a 99-year leasehold site of 191,978 sq ft, purchased en bloc by a SingHaiyi-led consortium for $260 million in July 2022. SingHaiyi and Chip Eng Seng (now part of SingHaiyi) have a combined stake of 70% in the joint venture, with KSH Holdings and Ho Lee Group holding the remaining 30% stake.

"Our aim is for Sora to offer its owners a premium lifestyle with a fine balance between nature and recreation," commented Raymond Chia, group CEO of SingHaiyi, in a media statement. "It was a natural fit with Nakano, known for its consistently delivering exceptional quality in their works."

Chia adds that the concept for Sora aligns with Jurong Lake District's transformation into an integrated hub for "live-work-play-learn".

The construction of Sora marks the maiden collaboration between SingHaiyi and Nakano Singapore. "We are thrilled to collaborate with SingHaiyi for the Sora project as we find great synergy with them in our ethos to create high-quality developments for our clients and consumers," said the managing director of Nakano Singapore, Kutsuzawa Yoichi.

Nakano Singapore's notable projects in Singapore include the 142-key luxury hotel Artyzen Singapore on Cuscaden Road and the 165-unit One-North Eden at Slim Barracks Rise in one-north.

Sora's sales gallery at Prinsep Street will open for public preview on June 22.
