ASML CEO says world needs the legacy chips China is producing, Handelsblatt reports
Chip buyers, including the German car industry, need the older generation computer chips that Chinese chipmakers are currently investing in, the CEO of equipment maker ASML said in an interview with Germany's Handelsblatt newspaper published on Monday. The remarks by Christophe Fouquet, who took over as CEO at Europe's largest tech firm in April, come as the European Commission has begun surveying firms including ASML for their views on Chinese firms' investments in so-called "legacy" chips, an important source of revenue for ASML. "The automotive industry in particular, including the German one, needs a lot more chips that are manufactured using simpler, long-known technologies," Fouquet told the paper.

The record fee request was made by investor Richard Tornetta on behalf of three law firms that represented him, including Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossmann. Tornetta owned nine shares of Tesla when he sued over Musk's pay package of stock options in 2018, a legal battle he ultimately won in January when the package was voided.

India will import coking coal from Mongolia on a trial basis from later this month, two sources familiar with the matter said, as New Delhi seeks to diversify imports of the key steelmaking raw material to cut over-reliance on Australia. Boeing is to plead guilty to a criminal fraud conspiracy charge to resolve a US investigation into two fatal 737 MAX crashes. An official at the US Department of Justice (DoJ) revealed overnight that Boeing would pay a $243.6m (£190.1m) fine and invest at least $455m (£355m) over three years to strengthen its safety and compliance programmes as part of the plea deal. The settlement, which Boeing acknowledged but did not comment on, marks the second time the planemaker has been offered a plea bargain by the department relating to the crashes of 2018 and 2019 that were blamed on flawed flight control software.
