SIA posts passenger traffic growth of 15.8% in December operational update

group’s passenger traffic grew of 15.8% y-o-y for the month of December 2023 while passenger capacity expanded by 16.1% y-o-y.
The group’s passenger load factor decreased by 0.3 percentage points (ppt) y-o-y to 89.4%.
In December last year, SIA and Scoot posted monthly passenger load factors of 88.7% and 91.7%, respectively. The two airlines carried a combined total of 3.3 million passengers during the month, up 24.4% y-o-y.
Group cargo carriage for the month grew 4.3% y-o-y on the back of stronger e-commerce demand. However, increased passenger services which resulted in higher bellyhold capacity saw the group’s cargo load factor decrease by 1.7 ppts y-o-y to 52.6%.
During the month, SIA resumed services to Xiamen. As at the end of December 2023, the group’s passenger network covered 121 destinations in 35 countries and territories. SIA served 76 destinations, while Scoot served 67 destinations. The cargo network comprised 126 destinations in 37 countries and territories.
Shares in SIA closed 1 cent higher or 0.15% up at $6.53 on Jan 15.
