A safer and lower-carbon way to cook with City Energy's Küche Smart Collection

Launched in 2022 under Life by City Energy, the Küche Smart Collection is a more eco-friendly smart home solution.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and City Energy is offering a smarter, safer and more sustainable way to fuel your culinary adventures with the Küche Smart Collection.

The Küche Smart Collection is a more eco-friendly, Internet of Things (IoT) smart home solution, launched in 2022 under Life by City Energy, the retail brand of Singapore’s sole piped town gas provider.

Featuring a smart gas hob, smart hood, smart oven and smart gas water heater, all appliances can be remotely controlled and monitored via the iAppliances app, giving homeowners complete control of their appliances even when away from home.

Fears of leaving the gas hob on are a thing of the past; with the Küche Smart Collection comes a peace of mind, especially for those living with the elderly or young children. By adding a smart camera, homeowners can even look at their kitchen and shut off the gas hob remotely.

These features are priceless, as some 37% of residential fires in 2022 were caused by unattended cooking, says the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The Küche Smart Collection’s safety functions, such as timer alerts, app-triggered notifications, alarms and remote shutdown, allay any concerns about unattended stoves or wasted energy.

Going digital also comes with many perks; homeowners can monitor their gas consumption and even programme recipes with their mobile devices. The smart interlocking automation also allows for the hood to be activated along with the gas hob at desired settings, ensuring that the kitchen stays clean even as dinner favourites are being prepared.

The Küche Smart Collection is also interoperable with other smart home devices, and can be synced and controlled via Google Home Assist.

The more eco-friendly way to cook

As home cooks know, nothing beats the smoky flavours of “wok hei”, or “breath of the wok”. This paragon of Asian cooking can only be infused into dishes over high heat, made possible with a sturdy stove and piped gas.

Induction cookers may be touted for their use in preparing simple dishes, but growing demand for gas-powered appliances in Singapore proves that homeowners are hungry for more. According to City Energy, some 12,000 new private housing units are expected to install piped town gas this year.

As sustainability makes its way into all aspects of urban living, Singaporeans are seeking smart and environmentally-friendly solutions, even at home.

A 2022 survey revealed that 77% of Singaporeans prefer to dwell in green buildings, up from 47% in a prior iteration of the survey conducted the year prior. Among those who favour green buildings, 46% of them are willing to pay a premium for an environmentally-sustainable home.

Smarter living in Singapore

Made from high-quality stainless steel and black tempered glass, the Küche Smart Collection features minimalist styling with its clean lines and timeless, modern design, delivering a simple yet striking presence that sits right at home with any decor.

This premium collection also comes with Küche’s app-controlled smart gas water heater to extend fuss-free living solutions to the bathroom.

City Energy, as the sole piped town gas provider, works closely with property developers to offer access to piped gas. Blossoms by the Park at Slim Barracks Rise is set to become the first condominium in Singapore to be fitted out with fully-integrated lower-carbon IoT-enabled kitchen solutions powered by City Energy.

About 750 smart hobs, smart hoods, smart gas water heaters and smart ovens from the Küche Smart Collection will be installed in the upcoming development’s three- and four-bedroom apartments, as well as its four-bedder penthouses.

With more than 160 years of history in Singapore, City Energy has worked with nearly 600 developments to offer bundled solutions beyond piped gas. These include Go by City Energy, the group’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as well as solar and other smart home solutions.

With three charging points at the upcoming Blossoms by the Park, the development joins more than 25 new private condominiums to be fitted with Go’s EV charging services.

In today’s hyperconnected world, Singapore homeowners want technology that is intuitive and allows easy control of their daily lives, says City Energy CEO Perry Ong. “City Energy is continuously developing solutions to create greater safety and convenience at home, while reducing carbon footprint at the same time.”

Ong adds: “We are confident that more property developers will leverage City Energy’s multiple lower-carbon energy solutions for home-buyers and investors who are increasingly seeking smart living features for their properties.”
