EXCLUSIVE: Robert Alonzo, a two-time SAG Award winner known as one of the top action design professionals in Hollywood, is getting into producing at the action-focused production company Tremor House. His partner in the endeavor is longtime friend and collaborator Jonathan Spano, an entrepreneur and philanthropist whose film technology and stunt work have also earned him a SAG Award.

“Tremor House provides us an opportunity to combine our talents, experience, relationships and resources to create projects with maximum entertainment impact,” said Alonzo and Spano in a joint statement to Deadline. “Using the precision and perspective that comes with understanding how to run a business and putting the right people in the right jobs, Tremor House will develop projects with maximum efficiency and value.”

Added Garcia of CAT5, “The combination of my financing, packaging, development, and production oversight experience with Rob’s depth of relationships and skill sets throughout the action and stunt world allow us to create a unique offering for filmmakers as well as financing and distribution partners. Add in Jonathan’s resources and this collaboration is ready to cook.”

In addition to producing for Tremor House and continuing to leverage his expertise as a Stunt Performer, Fight Choreographer, Stunt Coordinator, Action Designer, and Second Unit Director, Alonzo will look for opportunities to step in to the director’s chair, as peers like Chad Stahelski and David Leitch have done successfully. Notable second unit directing credits for Alonzo so far include The Batman, The Flash, Captain America: Brave New World, Deadpool, Oblivion, Heart of Stone, Tomorrowland, Bright, Braven, Alpha, Black and Blue, and the upcoming The Bluff, with Priyanka Copra-Jonas and Karl Urban, for AGBO and Amazon.

Boasting both creative storytelling ability and expertise in a wide array of live-action filmmaking techniques, Alonzo has also thus far leveraged his broad knowledge of animation, visual effects, and digital technology to create unforgettable action. To date, he’s worked with top talent including Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Pattinson, Jason Momoa, Ryan Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney, Margot Robbie, Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Brad Bird, Quentin Tarantino, and dozens more.

Spano founded his first company, Traffic Management, Inc., as a teenager nearly 30 years ago, growing it into an award-winning business employing thousands nationwide. Building on his passion for piloting planes and helicopters, he has since gone on to become a leader in the field of aerial cinematography as co-founder of Phenom Camera Ship, a complex, multi-camera operating system custom-made to film the intricate aviation scenes in Top Gun: Maverick. Spano also served as a stunt pilot for the movie, earning a SAG Award for his work. He’s also the Co-Founder of fleet management service Momentum IoT and liqueur brand Pomello.

everal weeks ago, Deadline was first to the news of CAT5, which emerges following Garcia’s run as the head of the Film Group at Fifth Season. Serving as one of the initial backer’s of his new label, Fifth Season most recently brought Garcia and Alonzo together to collaborate on Nick Rowland’s forthcoming She Rides Shotgun, produced by Brad Weston and starring Taron Egerton. The title is largely sold out for international via Black Bear, while Fifth Season reps the domestic rights in partnership with Range Select.

Alonzo is represented by Holly Jeter and WME as a filmmaker. The joint venture was negotiated by Quincy Newell on behalf of Tremor House along with Garcia for CAT5.
