Poland has a new representative at the World Bank- government source

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's new representative at the World Bank will be Mariusz Krukowski, currently chief adviser at the European Investment Bank, a government source told Reuters on Wednesday.

"Minister (of Finance Andrzej) Domański signed the nomination for this position for Mariusz Krukowski, Business Insider, which earlier reported the news said.

In December, the new Polish government dismissed the country's representative to the World Bank, Jacek Kurski, in a move criticized by the central bank, which appointed him to the position in 2022.

He took on the role after leaving his post as head of state broadcaster TVP, where he implemented changes in its coverage that critics say turned it into a propaganda vehicle for the nationalist PiS government that left office this month.

According to media reports, Krukowski worked in the Ministry of Finance in 2007-2008, and then joined the permanent representation of Poland to the European Union.

He then took up the position of chief adviser to the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg.
