Hit with Chinese tariffs, Australia's wine industry struggled to offset the impact of falling exports despite scrambling to build new markets, source grapes from elsewhere and seek government help, industry executives said. Though the EU's winemakers are not part of the current spat, its pork and brandy sectors fear they could be hit with retaliatory measures from Beijing after the bloc imposed tariffs of up to 38% on Chinese-made electric vehicles. The first tariffs on wine were introduced in November 2020.

India buys record amount of sunoil as Ukraine-Russia fight for market share cuts price
Indians bought a record 500,000 metric tons of sunflower oil for June delivery, as competition between leading suppliers Russia and Ukraine made it cheaper than soyoil and palm oil, two leading buyers and a customs official told Reuters. Higher sunflower oil purchases by the world's biggest importer of vegetable oils will help to reduce sunflower oil inventories in the Black Sea region and lift sunoil prices. A leading buyer who declined to be named said sunoil was trading at a discount to soyoil and even palm oil, which was tempting Indian buyers especially given robust demand in southern states.

Oil prices rise on fuel demand expectations, easing US dollar
NEW YORK (Reuters) -Oil prices rose about 1% on Monday, spurred by the prospect of strong summer driving demand and as tensions in the Middle East and drone attacks on Russian refineries led to concerns about supply. "The chief underlying reason behind the price strength ... is the growing confidence that global oil inventories will inevitably plunge during the summer in the northern hemisphere," said Tamas Varga of oil broker PVM, referring to seasonal demand for oil products. After last week's big decline in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories, [EIA/S], traders are waiting to see whether the report due on Wednesday will provide further evidence of sustained strong gasoline demand, said Bob Yawger, director of energy futures at Mizuho in New York.

Arm Holdings (ARM) was added to the Nasdaq 100 (^NDX) on Monday as shares are up nearly 140% since its public debut in September. Arm Holdings CEO Rene Haas joins Market Domination Overtime to discuss the milestone and the British semiconductor company's outlook. Haas states that AI "is going to really, really change people's lives in terms of productivity, whether that's call centers that can become 100% automated, healthcare, bio-research where you can cut the research of a cancer drug from ten years to five years to three years. This is all going to be capable with AI. And then every device that we use, the data center, the automobile, your PC, your smartphone, they all need to run AI. There's no quibble around that." He notes that 70% of the world's devices use Arm chips, positioning them well in the overall AI race. He adds, "I think respectfully, the analysts maybe didn't quite understand or have an appreciation at the pace of which things were moving," pointing to how quickly AI has grown. He believes the technology will be a tailwind for both smartphones and Arm, stating, "Since most of these devices are already Arm-based and the software runs on Arm, it's pretty natural that we're going to be in the center of all of that." India's state-owned Hindustan Copper plans to develop two of its copper mines for which Adani Enterprises and Hindalco Industries have shown preliminary interest, a source with direct knowledge of the matter said. "Adani and Hindalco attended the pre-bid conference earlier today," the source said, declining to be identified due to the sensitive nature of discussions. Both Adani Enterprises and Hindalco did not immediately respond to a Reuters requests for comment.

Gaps in EU's preparation for potential gas crises, auditors say
The European Union is insufficiently prepared to weather a future gas crisis despite introducing a raft of measures to end its dependence on Russian energy, the European Court of Auditors said on Monday. Europe's energy supply was upended in 2022 when former top gas supplier Russia invaded Ukraine and slashed fuel deliveries, prompting the EU to introduce emergency policies to fill gas storage, reduce gas use, and jointly buy gas. Europe managed to avoid a major gas shortage during the crisis, but it is unclear how much of that can be credited to EU policies versus other factors like mild winter weather and high prices causing industries to use less gas, the ECA said in a report on Monday.
