It’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the options on the market. In this article, we’ll explore some of the most trusted names in the electronics industry, offering insights into what sets them apart from the competition.

Sony

Sony has a proven track record dating back to the earliest days of color TV. Today, they’re still a trusted choice for making quality products that last forever.

“Sony provides a variety of models in a few different price ranges,” said Jason Fischbeck, president of Automated Environments. “Sony builds their TVs with high quality components such as HDMI ports, power assemblies and screens so they are built to last.”

While their pricing is definitely on the higher end of the market, the quality of the components means you’ll have peace of mind.

“There are dozens of smart TV brands today, but my TV brands of choice are Samsung and Sony,” said Troy Neal, founder of TROYPOINT. “Some smart TV brands to avoid in my opinion are RCA, JVC, Philips, Panasonic, and cheap brands that are sold on discount websites like Temu or Alibaba.”

LG

Fischbeck also recommended LG, another great company making high-end TVs.

“While not as good as Sony, they are a solid television for those looking for a great TV on a budget,” he said.

The South Korean company offers a variety of TV models with different display types, with wide viewing angles which are good for large rooms where people may be set off to the side, and can still view an

undistorted picture. The cases are made from premium materials to ensure durability and longevity. Their OLED panels use protective layers to prevent image retention and degradation over time.

“The components are made of high-quality materials, so if you take care of the television, it will last you for years.”

Marantz

Marantz is a Japanese brand that’s been making home theater equipment for over 60 years. Marantz components are renowned as the gold standard for audiophile quality.

“Marantz sound system receivers are some of the best quality sound system receivers you can purchase,” said Fischbeck. “Built with exact sound precision, these receivers pack a punch whether you are listening to music or watching a movie.”

A big reason for this reputation stems from the company’s design philosophy emphasizing overbuilt power supplies, premium internal components, and robust chassis construction. Marantz receivers can easily withstand decades of use with no loss of quality.

“These receivers harken back to the old tube style sound systems whereas they provide a warmer quality tone than most other receivers on the market,” said Fischbeck. “The designers of these systems understand quality sound production and create the best receivers on the market that will last for years.”

Sonance

Speaking of home theater, Fischbeck recommended Sonance, a company that specializes in ultra high-end speakers designed to disappear seamlessly into their environments. Sonance makes some of the most durable, high-fidelity, and ingeniously-designed speakers in the world.

“These speakers provide high quality audio that is impeccable for the listener,” he said. “Sonance speakers are used exclusively in many high-end art galleries, museums, restaurants, as well as in the home. Due to the high quality of these speakers, they are on the higher end when it comes to price but as the saying goes, ‘you get what you pay for.’ And these speakers will provide you with high quality audio for many years as long as you treat them right.”

Apple

Apple’s iPhone is the gold standard for robust construction and long-lasting performance. Apple tightly integrates their hardware with their iOS software, which means that iPhones get performance and software support unmatched by the rest of the smartphone world.

“Apple has worked hard to integrate hardware and software in a way that ensures devices like the MacBook Air and iPhone run smoothly for years and years,” said Christian de Looper, consumer technology expert at HostingAdvice.com. “Apple continues to offer software updates for iPhones that are up to six or seven years old, and that’s something not a single Android manufacturer has been proven to match yet, though recently, some are claiming they’ll offer something similar.”

Apple also has the advantage of building its own powerful mobile chips, said de Looper. All these touches translate into extraordinary longevity for iOS devices. iPhones routinely see four to five years of solid daily use, an eternity in a world of planned obsolescence.

“The quality of Apple’s products is undisputed, and I’ve owned an iPhone since 2010 and haven’t looked back,” said Neal. “I typically upgrade my iPhone model every few years, but some of my iPhones have lasted me three to four years without any major issue. The build quality, powerful performance, simple interface, and integration with Apple’s ecosystem makes the iPhone a reliable choice for a long-term smartphone.”
