Mapletree Investments signs agreement with Marriott International to debut JW Marriott in Ho Chi Minh

The agreement marks the introduction of the JW Marriott brand into the city, part of Mapletree Investments' enhancement plan.

Mapletree Investments and Marriott International have signed an agreement to operate the latter’s existing hotel and serviced apartments in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as announced on July 10.

This agreement also marks the introduction of the JW Marriott brand into the city, with the conversion of the existing hotel at mPlaza into JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon, stated to open in September.

This forms part of Mapletree Investments' enhancement plan for mPlaza at the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

“We aim to deliver exceptional experiences, as well as quality services to our tenants, guests and visitors with the JW Marriott brand,” says Amy Ng, regional CEO of South East Asia and Group Retail, Mapletree.

Shawn Hill, Marriott International’s chief development officer in Asia Pacific excluding China, adds that the group is “delighted” to bring their brand into Ho Chi Minh’s key market.

JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon is expected to feature a 21-storey hotel tower and a 31-storey serviced apartment tower consisting of one to three-bedroom apartments.

The rebranding of the property is set to feature a range of amenities including a conference space of more than 1,200 sqm and five restaurants and bars.

The introduction of JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon marks Marriott International’s 24th property in Vietnam and the company’s fifth hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, alongside the existing Sheraton, Renaissance, and Autograph Collection branded properties in the city.
