SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) - Burswood Point, one of the largest urban development projects ever undertaken in Australia, is undergoing a A$3.8 billion ($3.1 billion) redevelopment. Spanning 38ha, the project is developed by Golden Sedayu, a partnership between Perth’s Golden Group and Agung Sedayu, one of Indonesia’s largest property firms.

The mega redevelopment is expected to see 4,500 residential apartments with high internal specifications, as well as office and retail spaces, according to a press release by Golden Sedayu on Oct 18.

Andrew Sugiaputra, Golden Sedayu’s managing director, says that the development has a strategic locality. “With its dress-circle position across from the Perth CBD, Burswood Point is set to become a destination in its own right, home to a range of premium tourism and recreational facilities, including markets, riverside parks, a shopping centre and luxury hotel.” A range of parklands, beaches, playgrounds, and active recreation spaces is being planned, Sugiaputra adds.

So far, Golden Sedayu has completed $80 million in siteworks, including access roads, water works and sewer pump station, bulk earthworks importing more than three million sq ft of sand, road works, and the construction of a new bridge connecting Victoria Park Drive to Burswood Point.

Located by the Swan River, the project is adjacent to the 60,000-seater Optus Stadium, which has hosted singers like Ed Sheeran, and the Crown Casino. Across the river is a golf course. The developer plans to build a ferry jetty that can give Burswood Point residents direct access to the golf course. Other nearby facilities include a race course, which is operational twice a week.

While approvals have been secured for the precinct plan and the construction of 74 luxury riverside homes, two premium apartment towers and four retail tenancies at the north of the site are still awaiting approval. The premium apartment towers are expected to have 206 units. The 74 riverside landed homes will offer direct, unblocked views of the Swan River.

Golden Sedayu will also be applying for approval for two more towers later this month. Sugiaputra notes that due to the size of the development, it will take more than a decade to be completed.

The first units at the two premium apartment towers at Burswood Point are expected to receive planning approval by January next year, and subsequently launch for sale, with starting prices from about A$650,000. The landed houses are now available for viewing at the showcase and for purchase from A$2.75 million.

Interested buyers can preview the apartments and landed homes between Oct 28 and 29 at Suntec City, Tower 1, Level 17. Savills Singapore is the exclusive marketing agent.
