Law Society Pro Bono Services appoints Vanda CEO Low Wei-Ling as first non-lawyer board member

Low’s appointment will make her the first non-lawyer to join the board.

Law Society Pro Bono Services (LSPBS) announced that CEO of Vanda Global Capital Low Wei-Ling has been appointed as its board member. Low’s appointment will make her the first non-lawyer to join the board.

According to the LSPBS, Low will enhance the board’s focus on areas of finance and investment, governance and compliance, risk and crisis management and technology, and digitalisation and digitisation. In particular, Low will help LSPBS strengthen innovation in delivering legal education.

“We are delighted to welcome Low on board, with her appointment significant as the first non-lawyer on our board, coupled with adding to the gender and occupational diversity and depth,” says Gregory Vijayendran, SC, Chairman of LSPBS. “We believe Low will strongly value-add to our mission for pro bono and access to justice and create more touchpoints in the community in creative and nuanced ways.”

Low has experience serving in the boards of various organisations with senior management roles in financial institutions, has expertise in strategic governance, risk management and compliance. Her current and former appointments include serving as Advisory Board Member of the Singapore Management University Academy; Monetary Authority of Singapore Banking Industry Group, the Johns Hopkins University Centre for Talented Youth SEA Advisory Group and serving as Singapore Co-Chairman for International Trade Missions and at Board And Chair capacities at Rotary International Club, Foundation and District, Singapore.
