Investors Shouldn't Overlook The Favourable Returns On Capital At Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET)

If we want to find a potential multi-bagger, often there are underlying trends that can provide clues. Typically, we'll want to notice a trend of growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and alongside that, an expanding base of capital employed. If you see this, it typically means it's a company with a great business model and plenty of profitable reinvestment opportunities. With that in mind, the ROCE of Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) looks attractive right now, so lets see what the trend of returns can tell us.

Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?

If you haven't worked with ROCE before, it measures the 'return' (pre-tax profit) a company generates from capital employed in its business. The formula for this calculation on Arista Networks is:

Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)

0.28 = US$2.4b ÷ (US$11b - US$1.8b) (Based on the trailing twelve months to March 2024).

Therefore, Arista Networks has an ROCE of 28%. That's a fantastic return and not only that, it outpaces the average of 8.1% earned by companies in a similar industry.

Returns like this are the envy of most businesses and given it has repeatedly reinvested at these rates, that's even better.
