Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants partners UK business school; launches study space at Cecil St

ISCA says the centre will provide a conducive study environment for Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification candidates.

The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has launched the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) Academy in partnership with the London School of Business and Finance (LSBF).

In an April 5 statement, ISCA says the tie-up builds on ISCA’s collaborations with Indonesia and the Philippines earlier this year to support the accountancy profession in these countries.

LSBF is one of SCAQ’s Registered Learning Organisations (RLO). LSBF delivers online learning programmes which are accessible to students anywhere in the world.

The SCAQ Academy will run classes in a hybrid format. This approach allows candidates to dial in to classes from the convenience of their homes or workplaces, says ISCA. Candidates can also opt for in-person classes.

Rathakrishnan Govind, CEO of LSBF Global, expects “over a thousand learners” to gain access to LSBF's faculty and ISCA’s “valuable resources”.

As part of the launch, a 50% exclusive discount will be given to SCAQ Foundation Programme candidates sitting in the June examinations for selected modules.

SCAQ Centre

In addition to the partnership, ISCA announced that it will launch the SCAQ Centre, a dedicated space located at ISCA House on Cecil Street.

According to ISCA, the centre will provide a conducive study environment for SCAQ candidates and host SCAQ study groups. The centre will also facilitate complimentary revision classes for local university alumni and double as a social space for networking sessions and relevant workshops.

The centre will operate from 6pm to 9pm on weekdays and 9am to 6pm on weekends.

ISCA president Teo Ser Luck says: “We envisage the launch of the SCAQ Academy and SCAQ Centre to meet the needs of our candidates and provide them with the flexibility and support that they require to learn and prepare for the qualifying exam. We will support every candidate’s professional development in their journey to becoming a chartered accountant.”
