IKEA's new calming collection has been designed to reduce stress
IKEA has announced the launch of its exciting VÅRDANDE collection, inspired by the core pillars of wellbeing.
Working together with five social businesses in Bangladesh, Thailand, India and Vietnam, the beautiful range has been hand-crafted from sustainable materials, including banana fibres, clay and jute. All of the brands involved are committed to creating long-term job opportunities, while also helping improve the lives of vulnerable groups in their communities.
Inspired by traditions that help to reduce stress and anxiety, products include a pink yoga mat (£25), bath towel (£10), fabric plant pot (£5), a bowl filled with potpourri (£3), carrying basket (£9), and a gorgeous kimono in calming neutral shades (£19). Each of the items in the collection have been designed to easily slot into everyday life, helping you to enjoy moments of calm both inside and out.
The word 'VÅRDANDE' in Swedish means 'caring' – and the wellness-focussed collection has been designed to do just that. Whether you're looking to refresh your homewares or want to treat a loved one (we think the hanging decoration (£7) would make a particularly lovely gift), there is something to suit everyone.
'VÅRDANDE is a result of the ambition to create job and economic opportunities for those who need them the most,' says Sarah Fager, Designer at IKEA of Sweden.
'By collaborating with social businesses in a number of countries, all of which employ people who have difficulty finding a job in the labour market, we hope that the collection plays a role in helping to improve lives in those local communities. Meanwhile, we’re so pleased to be bringing the collection's focus on wellbeing and intricate craftsmanship to IKEA customers in the UK.'
The VÅRDANDE collection will be available to buy in all UK IKEA stores from August 2022. Blue FRAKTA bags at the ready...
