Supplies:
Large plastic storage bin
Dryer duct (aluminum flexible duct)
PVC plumbing couplers (2)
HVAC tape or duct tape
Utility knife
Fog machine
Ice
Instructions:
Prepare the Plastic Storage Bin. Start by selecting a large plastic storage bin as the main chamber for your fog chiller. Ensure it's big enough to accommodate your fog machine's output.
Create Your Fog Input Point. Trace a PVC plumbing coupler near the bottom of one end of the storage bin. Use a utility knife to cut a hole in the bin where you traced the coupler.
Connect the PVC Couplers. Insert one PVC plumbing coupler into the hole and attach the other coupler to it. This serves as a connector for your fog machine.
Create Fog Entry Point. Position your fog machine outside the plastic bin and attach it to the second coupler. This creates an entry point for the fog into the container.
Seal All Joints. Use HVAC tape or duct tape to seal all the connections and joints to prevent leaks, maintaining a cool environment inside the chiller.
Connect the Dryer Duct. Attach the dryer duct to the end of the first PVC plumbing coupler inside the plastic bin. Shape the duct like an elbow, acting as a chimney for the fog. The fog will travel up the duct and cascade out over the ice.
Create a Cooled Fog Output Point. Use your utility knife to cut a short, wide rectangle at the bottom of the storage bin opposite the fog entry point. This will be the cooled fog's output.
Insulate to Seal the Container. Apply insulation tape to the top seal of the storage container to prevent fog from leaking out of the top.
Test for Leaks. Close the container and run the fog machine to check for any leaks. Seal any leaks with duct tape.
Add Ice. Empty a bag of ice into the plastic storage bin. The cold temperature will cool and densify the fog as it passes through the chiller.
Operate the Fog Machine. Turn on the fog machine. Fog will be drawn into the plastic storage bin through the entry hole, pass through the cooled area with the ice, and exit through the output hole as chilled, low-lying fog.
Secure and Decorate. Ensure all components are secure and safe for use. You can decorate the exterior of the plastic storage bin to match your Halloween theme.
CAUTION: Use the fog machine and DIY fog chiller in a well-ventilated area.
