Year End Team Bonding Activities (From $4 to $250 Per Person) For Every Type Of Company

We are almost at the end of closing the chapter for 2022. As we reflect on the past year, most would agree that how we go about our daily work has probably changed somewhat compared to our pre-pandemic days.

It could be that you have transitioned from a full work from home set up to a hybrid work model, or have returned fully to the office and are adjusting to the dedicated lunch breaks and in-person meetings.

One thing is for sure: Your colleagues are likely who you will be seeing more often from Mondays to Fridays these days, and not your cat.

Are you finding a way to communicate better with your peers? Why not consider corporate retreats to “thaw” the ice.

Depending on the budget and corporate traditions, it can be a day-long event, an off-site retreat, or even a staff party. Here is a list of various company retreat activities you can consider trying out from $4, according to different team and company cultures.

Go On An Adventure

Think thrilling games that encourage team bonding and collaboration: Activities like visiting an escape room or laser tag bring the team together to solve problems and challenging puzzles under a certain amount of time.

An escape room provider is Xcape. It offers 52 game chambers that put participants’ intelligence to the test, with carefully built environments to solve mysteries and “save the world” challenges. The game duration ranges from 75 minutes to 2 hours, and costs $24 per person.

Laser tag activities can be played both indoors and outdoors. They usually start off with missions for the team to work together, such as a task to “capture the flag” or to “defeat the competition”.

Laser Quest is a laser tag operation located at both the Tampines and Bukit Batok branches of HomeTeamNS. Rates start from $4 per person for a 20-minute game.

Another laser tag provider Tag Team is located at East Coast Park where you can battle robots and drones from $15 per person for a 20-minute game.

For Sports And Fitness Buffs

If your team has many gym and sports enthusiasts, getting them together to work out will be something they might prefer as a corporate retreat activity.

Fire up those endorphins with a football match with your team mates. You can also rent soccer pitches and futsal pitches for smaller groups. The Cage at Kallang offers 5 a-side pitches for rent at $54 per hour on weekdays before 6pm.

You can also rent a soccer pitch from Safra Tampines. The main pitch is open daily from 7am to 11pm, and members can enjoy off peak rates of $107 for a 2 hour session.

Or you can consider a group spin class as a fun group activity. Spin class provider Absolute Cycle offers a private ride class and can hold around 50 people for each session. According to its website, some companies that have engaged them for corporate private rides include Shopee, TransferWise, and Alta.

Learn Something New

Why not try out a new activity that can potentially become a new hobby? There are workshops from pottery making, to building your own terrarium, or making your own scented candle.

You can find classes galore on activities booking apps like Klook and Fave. On Klook, you can search for pottery classes from centrally located workshops such as Taoz Ceramics Studio at Somerset which costs $30 per person for a 30 minute session.

Terrarium workshops like Terrarium Singapore conduct workshops at any location of your preference at $22 per person. This is suitable if you have office rooms that can be used to host the group session. There is also Terrarium workshop provider Make Your Own, a 2-in-1 studio and café. There you can order tea and dessert while learning how to build your own terrarium.

Feast On

Is the team a bunch of food lovers? Consider bringing them out for a nice dinner or order in for an office party.

Since Singaporeans are usually spoilt for choices on deciding what to eat, it can be thoughtful to conduct a company poll so your team can vote on their treat.

If you have a large group you can consider having the party in the office for a more comfortable and private get together by ordering from a caterer. Catering firms are reporting an increase in orders since the reopening of the economy. It’s a convenient choice if you don’t want to go through too much effort to organise an eating session – kick back and relax on the food choice worries and leave it to the professionals.

Relax And Destress

Feeling stressed over the pandemic and work? Sign up a spa session for your team to relax their tense muscles to show appreciation for their hard work.

The spa at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa has packages that are catered to different budgets. It offers a $80 per person package that gives access to its Spa Garden Facilities with a choice of a meal and a drink. It has another package priced at $250 with a 90-minute massage, access to the facilities, and a meal and a drink. You can also opt for a la carte options, by choosing only a massage instead.

AWAY Spa at W Singapore also offers massages from $180. There are short massages and facials with a lower price point too. The spa facilities include a sauna, steam room, vitality pool and jacuzzi, ready to put any stressed up individual at ease.

Work Hard, Play Hard

Corporate retreats provide colleagues a chance to bond with one another beyond the excel files and email threads. The bonding sessions strengthen working relationships inside the workplace and improve the relationship between co-workers.

These “breaks” from work are viewed as welfare benefits too, and they have been proven to improve staff morale. They also help give workers an opportunity to clarify the company’s goals and missions.
