Check your appliances to see if you qualify.
If you’ve noticed your Bosch oven display is fading, you may be entitled to compensation. Though they have not admitted to any wrongdoing, Bosch has agreed to settle a lawsuit involving the malfunction of the variable frequency drive (VFD) control panels on select models of their appliances.
Bosch’s $2 Million Class Action Lawsuit
According to Top Class Actions, Bosch Home Appliances has agreed to a $2 million settlement in a class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that several Bosch appliances were equipped with defective control panels that ultimately caused them to become unreadable due to dimming and, in some cases, fail entirely. The appliances affected are Bosch microwaves and ovens with the following model numbers:
HBL5751UC
HBL8751UC
HBLP751UC
HMC80151UC
HMC80251UC
HMC87151UC
You may be eligible for reimbursement if you purchased an affected Bosch model, received one as a gift, or had one conveyed as part of a home purchase.
How to File a Claim in the Lawsuit
When you file a claim online, you must provide proof of purchase. Before you start, you’ll want to note the model and find the serial numbers for your appliance. Additionally, you’ll need the warranty registration and any documents related to the appliance, such as store receipts and repair invoices.
There are two tiers of rewards:
Tier 1 (a) would reimburse members with up to $400 for proven costs related to their appliance display failure. Tier 1 (b) provides the same benefit but for future failures.
Tier 2 provides an extended service plan where Bosch will replace the defective panels.
The deadline to submit a claim for Tier 1(a) is Sept. 3, 2024, while members have until Feb. 12, 2025, to make a claim for Tier 1(b) or Tier 2 benefits.
