For small households with minimal storage space, cordless vacuum cleaning is a real game changer. If you’re window shopping for an all-rounder that is practical and effective – providing good suction, battery power and user convenience — consider the Triflex HX2 by German appliance specialist Miele.

Available in three chic colours, its patented 3-in-1 design (which was awarded the coveted Red Dot Product Design Award) features a modular PowerUnit with a motor assembly, rechargeable battery, and dust box.

When positioned atop (reach mode), it gracefully delves into the hidden spaces beneath furniture or along lofty ceilings. Shift it closer to the floor (comfort mode), and the Triflex effortlessly balances itself for sweeping larger areas. In compact mode, it's perfect for swift clean-ups on the breakfast table or a quick car refresh. A novel addition is the accessory holder on the stick, ensuring the upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle, and dusting brush are always within reach.

The Triflex HX2's enhanced cleaning prowess owes itself to the Digital Efficiency motor, boasting a 60% performance boost. This powerhouse collaborates seamlessly with the proven mono-cyclone design (Vortex Technology) and the Multi Floor XXL electrobrush for unparalleled cleaning performance. Intelligence abounds as the beater bar adjusts speed on different surfaces, conserving energy and battery life.

Fuelling this cleaning dynamo is a Varta lithium-ion battery, with seven high-performance cells granting up to 60 minutes of cleaning bliss. Need more juice? The slightly more expensive Triflex HX2 Pro model comes with a second rechargeable battery extending its life to 120 minutes. The Pro model also comes with a Hardfloor Care Tool which caters to homes with delicate hard flooring; and a built-in LED light that really illuminates every speck of dirt on the floor.

If you’re a pet owner, there’s a Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog model which has a compact handheld brush designed for effortless removal of stubborn pet hairs from sofas and carpets. Another important feature is the built-in HEPA Lifetime filter, which is able to hold back 99.999% of all particles, reliably filtering out allergens in the home.

Cleaning is a cinch with the all-new ComfortClean function. Just a few turns of the filter lid is sufficient to shake dirt particles into the container. The filter can also be removed from the unit with the flick of a wrist.

In a nutshell, Miele Triflex HX2 is a very versatile all-in-one machine with powerful suction. The main body can feel a bit heavy which makes manoeuvring tight spaces and changing parts feel a touch clumsy, but that’s the price for quality. What I do love is the gentle cleaning head for hardwood flooring, the LED light to illuminate dark corners, and the stick’s ability to stand upright on its own. With dual batteries delivering long-lasting cleaning, this is a great replacement for a plug-in cleaner.
