SINGAPORE — The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Friday (29 September) that it will be reallocating an additional 300 Category A Certificate of Entitlements (COEs) across two bidding exercises in October. This means there will be 150 COEs more per exercise.

With this, there will be an additional 24 per cent increase in the Category A quota available for the two exercises in October 2023 – making it a total of 4,085, up from 3,785 previously.

Category A includes cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, or electric vehicles (EV) up to 110kW.

"There is no change to the quota for other categories," LTA said.

The decision, LTA said, was made to meet anticipated demand from car buyers following the September 2023 announcement of the Vehicular Emissions Scheme (VES) rebates from 1 January 2024.

Those additions will be drawing upon the same pool of COEs from guaranteed deregistration of cars with five-year non-extendable COEs.

The next quota announcement for the bidding period of November 2023 to January 2024 will be in October 2023.
