Though the EU's winemakers are not part of the current spat, its pork and brandy sectors fear they could be hit with retaliatory measures from Beijing after the bloc imposed tariffs of up to 38% on Chinese-made electric vehicles. The first tariffs on wine were introduced in November 2020.

Indians bought a record 500,000 metric tons of sunflower oil for June delivery, as competition between leading suppliers Russia and Ukraine made it cheaper than soyoil and palm oil, two leading buyers and a customs official told Reuters. Higher sunflower oil purchases by the world's biggest importer of vegetable oils will help to reduce sunflower oil inventories in the Black Sea region and lift sunoil prices. A leading buyer who declined to be named said sunoil was trading at a discount to soyoil and even palm oil, which was tempting Indian buyers especially given robust demand in southern states.

SEOUL/SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Congestion at Singapore's container port is at its worst since the COVID-19 pandemic, a sign of how prolonged vessel re-routing to avoid Red Sea attacks has disrupted global ocean shipping - with bottlenecks also appearing in other Asian and European ports. Retailers, manufacturers and other industries that rely on massive box ships are again battling surging rates, port backups and shortages of empty containers, even as many consumer-oriented firms look to build inventories heading into the peak year-end shopping season. Global port congestion has reached an 18-month high, with 60% of ships waiting at anchor located in Asia, maritime data firm Linerlytica said this month.

Arm Holdings (ARM) was added to the Nasdaq 100 (^NDX) on Monday as shares are up nearly 140% since its public debut in September. Arm Holdings CEO Rene Haas joins Market Domination Overtime to discuss the milestone and the British semiconductor company's outlook. India's state-owned Hindustan Copper plans to develop two of its copper mines for which Adani Enterprises and Hindalco Industries have shown preliminary interest, a source with direct knowledge of the matter said. "Adani and Hindalco attended the pre-bid conference earlier today," the source said, declining to be identified due to the sensitive nature of discussions. Both Adani Enterprises and Hindalco did not immediately respond to a Reuters requests for comment.

India plans to expand production-linked incentives for small textile firms: minister
India plans to expand production linked incentives (PLI) to small textile firms soon, part of efforts to increase garment exports to $50 billion by 2030, the federal textile minister said on Tuesday. The government introduced incentives for the textile sector in 2021, and has so far approved 64 proposals worth 198 billion rupees ($2.37 billion) to promote production of man-made fibre (MMF) fabric, garments and technical textiles. "We are considering to review the PLI scheme," Giriraj Singh, federal textile minister, said at the India International Garment Fair, noting the scheme had emerged as a big success to attract investments and expand production.

Novo Nordisk says Wegovy wins China approval
STORY: China has approved the sale of popular weight-loss drug Wegovy.That's according to Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk on Tuesday.In March, Novo said it would initially focus on patients paying out-of-pocket for the weekly injectable drug once approved in the country.The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on its launch plan.It also didn't elaborate on costs and expected supplies of the weight-loss treatment in China.The latest approval comes at a key point for Novo in the Chinese market.Its patent there on active ingredient semaglutide will expire in less than two years. Local drugmakers have also raced to develop generic versions, and Novo faces competition from U.S. rival Eli Lilly.Novo has grown massively in recent years to become Europe's most valuable company.Another of its drugs, Ozempic, won approval from Beijing three years ago.Novo saw sales of the product in the greater China region double to $698 million last year.
