Alicia Vikander's 'Tulip Fever' gets summer release date

The period drama starring Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHaan and Christoph Waltz will open in theaters on July 15, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander ("Anna Karenina", "The Danish Girl", "Ex Machina", "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.") will play a married woman in 17th-century Amsterdam who falls in love with the character of DeHaan ("Kill your Darlings", "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), a painter hired to do her portrait. Waltz will play Vikander's husband, who commissions the painting.

"Tulip Fever" is produced by Justin Chadwick, and adapted from a script by Tom Stoppard. The plot is based on Deborah Moggach's 1999 novel of the same name.
