Airlines face airplane shortage for some time -Cirium

DUBLIN, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Global airlines face continued shortages of aircraft for some years amid lagging production, pushing up the cost of leasing jets, a leading industry analyst said on Monday.

"There is going to be a shortage of airplanes for a long time to come," Rob Morris, global head of consultancy at UK-based Ascend by Cirium, told the Airline Economics conference.

Early indications based on test flights and other data suggest airplane manufacturers are making slow progress towards raising output and lagging their production targets, he said. (Reporting by Padraic Halpin, Tim Hepher, Editing by Louise Heavens)
