Academy Sports + Outdoors and DoorDash Team Up to Offer Consumers On-Demand Delivery

With the summer here and back-to-school season not far away, and Academy Sports + Outdoors has entered into a partnership with DoorDash to help get its products to people.

This exclusive partnership with DoorDash, Academy announced via statement on Monday, will offer on-demand delivery from the retailer’s stores — 285 in total across 19 states — for summer fun and the back-to-school season.

Academy’s products, according to the retailer, can be ordered through the DoorDash app. Although the retailer confirmed delivery times may vary and are not guaranteed, it stated items can be delivered on the same day, in less than an hour on average. Also, Academy stated all of its locations will be available on DoorDash’s membership program DashPass, which offers a $0 delivery fee and a reduced service fee on eligible orders.

“Academy Sports + Outdoors is continually looking for ways to help our customers get to the fun faster, and we believe this partnership with DoorDash will provide them with a new option to get the gear they need,” Academy Sports + Outdoors executive vice president and chief customer officer Chad Fox said in a statement. “We’re excited to partner with the leading local commerce platform to give our customers another convenient way to get the products they need quickly so they can have fun out there.”

DoorDash is not foreign to partnerships outside of food, and has experience in the world of footwear. For instance, DoorDash teamed up with Dominic “The Shoe Surgeon” Ciambrone in May 2023 ahead of the NBA Finals on a sweepstakes to win personalized sneakers from their collaboration, dubbed Ritual Restock.
