You’ll want to be prepared ahead of time so you don’t end up forgetting something important or stressing out about your trip at the last minute. If you’re a Costco member, here are several summer travel essentials to add to your shopping list the next time you head to the store.

Beachcomber Bag

Online price: $49.99

“The name says it all so if you’re going to be in a sandy environment this summer, it’s worth picking up one of these before you head out,” said consumer analyst Julie Ramhold with DealNews. “It’s basically a vinyl bag that can be simply rinsed out at the end of a beach day so you don’t tote any sand back to your hotel room or home with you. Plus, the holes are small enough to ensure the water drains effectively and to let the bulk of any sand that finds its way into your bag fall out as well.”

The bag itself has a decent aesthetic, always a plus for those who want to enjoy a nice summer day with a bit of style.

“It’s actually a good-looking accessory too, so don’t think you’re sacrificing style to carry a utilitarian bag,” Ramhold said. “It’s perfect for days at the lake or beach, as well as the pool for toting a variety of sunny-day necessities with ease.”

Type S 12V Jump Starter & Power Bank

Online price: $49.99 to $79.99

You might not initially think of a Type S 12V Jump Starter & Power Bank as a summer travel essential, but it can come in handy if you’re taking a long road trip somewhere.

“It’s priced under $100 and becomes indispensable during travel when you face a dead battery or need to charge devices on-the-go,” said Avery Kempe, a locksmith and business owner who sources many of his travel items from Costco. “It’s lightweight, compact, and has a LED light that proves beneficial for nighttime emergencies, making it an essential tool in my vehicle’s emergency kit.”

Traveler’s Choice Luggage Set

Online price: $169.99

Whether you’re taking a road trip or a flight somewhere, you need a reliable luggage set.

“Costco is a great place to buy travel essentials if you’re heading on a road trip, camping trip, or vacation of any kind,” said Adam Wood, co-founder of RevenueGeeks. “This Traveler’s Choice set is a great deal at Costco. It has been a year since I bought a luggage set for my travel[s] and I am still confident that it is worth buying. It is a durable and reliable luggage set. It helps me pack efficiently and safely for my trips.”

Weatherproof Vintage Outdoor Crew Sock

Online price: $12.49

If you’re planning to walk a lot on your summer vacation, you’re going to want some decent socks to keep your feet comfortable as you go.

“They’re moisture-wicking, have a padded footbed for comfort, and don’t wear down easily against my heavy-duty work shoes,” said Kempe. “Being well-prepared with durable socks can prevent discomfort and potential foot issues on long trips.”

Outdoor Products Expandable Travel Cube 5-Piece Set

Online price: $29.99

“While these can be used in any season, there’s no reason not to go ahead and buy them now for your summer travels ahead. No matter where you’re heading this summer, this set is bound to help you keep your luggage better organized and can be stored inside each other when they’re not in use to ensure they don’t take up unnecessary space,” said Ramhold.

These cubes are made up of taffeta and ripstop, which also makes them rather durable. This means that you can also use them to carry things like wet swimsuits and towels after a long day at the beach or lake.

COHO 24-Quart Injection Molded Cooler

Online price: $69.99

“There are many convenient coolers or ice chests available at Costco,” said Wood. “[These] will keep your drinks and snacks nice and cold when you’re out and about.”

This particular option can hold up to 32 cans at a time. It’s also relatively lightweight, all things considered, and small enough to fit into a vehicle without an issue. Plus, it comes with a comfort carry handle that makes it easier to tote around.

But there are other options like this at Costco, too. Some are much larger, which might make them better suited to camping trips or outdoor parties this summer. Check out the warehouse clubs selection to see what’s on offer.

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Sunscreen

Online price: $32.99

Sunscreen is a must-have as you head outside this summer, but don’t worry — Costco’s got you covered.

This SPF 50+ sunscreen is formulated to provide quick relief to sunburns or irritated skin, as well as to prevent burns in the first place. It’s designed to be safe for sensitive skin, too, which is perfect if other options aren’t quite working for you. It comes in a pack of two, so you can bring one with you as you go out and leave the other at home.

“Whether you like sprays, lotions, or sticks, you’ll find sun protection to keep you safe while soaking up the rays,” said Wood. “I never find myself disappointed when I get sunscreen from Costco.”

CORE 6-Person Cabin Tent With Screenhouse

Online price: $159.99

If you don’t already have a camping tent, but you’re thinking about spending some time in the Great Outdoors, now’s a good time to pick up some supplies. At Costco, you can get a decent-sized camping tent for under $200. It fits either six people or two queen-sized air mattresses, meaning you can camp in comfort while still enjoying your time away from the city.

Baggallini Soho Backpack

Online price: $59.99

“Whether you’re going to be doing walking tours this summer or just want a quick weekend getaway, this backpack is a useful addition to your travel supplies. In addition to being made with water-resistant nylon, it also has RFID interior organization pockets, a padded laptop sleeve, and a sleeve to add it to your rolling suitcase for easy carting around the airport,” said Ramhold.

It’s also highly rated with 4.6 stars.

“Baggallini products in general tend to be highly rated and this is an excellent price on a bag that could quickly [become] your go-to travel accessory no matter what season it is,” Ramhold said.
