Looking for an inexpensive but sweet Valentine’s Day gift? Andy Cooper, a money-saving expert and financial analyst at CouponBirds, suggested the 9.4-ounce LIK-M-AID Valentine’s Day Fun Dip.

“This classic powdered candy has 22 signable pouches and a candy stick,” he said. “It is a great option for a Valentine gift.”

It’s also cheaper than what you’d find elsewhere. At Aldi, it’s about $0.46 per ounce, while at Walmart the same item would be closer to $1.55 per ounce — around 240% higher than Aldi.

LaCroix Sparkling Flavored Water

Price: $5.85

Not everyone enjoys drinking plain water, so sparkling flavored water is a solid alternative if you’re trying to stay hydrated. A 12-pack of LaCroix Limoncello Sparkling Flavored Water goes for well under $10 and is more affordable at Aldi than at other retailers.

“LaCroix Sparkling Flavored Water is a refreshing and healthy beverage with zero calories, zero sweeteners and zero sodium,” Cooper said. “Besides, it is vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and Whole30 approved.”

If you don’t like limoncello, Aldi has flavors such as key lime, orange and razz-cranberry.

Millville Cereal

Price: $2.95

For many busy families, cereal’s a go-to breakfast option, but you don’t need to spend $5 or more on a box of cereal when you can get Aldi’s own Millville Cereal for much less. A box of Millville Honey Nut Crispy Oats, for example, costs several dollars less than name brands.

“Rumor has it that Millville cereal is produced at the same manufacturing plants and with the same ingredients as the more expensive name-brand cereals. The only difference is that you pay substantially less,” said Hope Ware, a frugality expert, frequent Aldi shopper and owner of Under the Median.

“We’ve been happy — and, more importantly, the kids have been happy — with every kind we’ve tried,” she continued. “The flavor and texture are both great, and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between Millville and [the] name brand.”

Casa Mamita Mild Salsa

Price: $1.69

“Salsa is an essential ingredient in so many quick, easy, frugal recipes,” Ware said. “At Aldi, I can get salsa for 30-40% less than I’d pay for the name-brand product.”

A jar of Casa Mamita Mild Salsa costs less than $2 and lasts a long time in the fridge. You can also get other types — e.g., chunky salsa, restaurant-style salsa or pineapple salsa — at reasonable prices.

Ware added, “The flavor is amazing, the texture is thick and the hotness levels are true to what is printed on the label. I use Aldi’s salsa in a number of different ways every single week.”
