Women Demand Access to Jobs and Education in Kabul Protest

A group of Afghan women took to the streets of Kabul on October 21 to call for jobs and the restoration of educational opportunities, Aamaj News reported.

The women “demanded [the] reopening of girls’ schools” and called for women to be allowed in the workplace, the outlet said.

Taliban authorities allowed the march to continue for around an hour and a half, AFP reported.

Both AFP and Aamaj News said journalists present were hit and chased by Taliban gunmen.

This footage was published by Aamaj News, and shows skirmishes amongst a crowd before showing the female protesters. The women are seen holding signs that read “Work. Bread. Education” and “Women Complement Society.” Credit: Aamaj News via Storyful
