Thousands Protest in French Cities Over Proposed Security Law

Thousands of people took the streets in cities across France on November 28 to protest a new law that would restrict sharing images of police officers.

A controversial provision of the law would make it a crime to publish photos or video footage of police officers on duty with intent to harm their “physical or psychological integrity.” The protests came after footage showing officers beating a Black man went viral in France. President Emmanuel Macron condemned the footage on Friday and called it an “unacceptable attack.”
