Sudanese European Film Festival becomes a drive-in

Around 100 vehicles gathered in a wide parking space, resting side by side before two large screens showing Sudanese and Arabic subtitled European films.

People brought food and drinks, sat inside, next to and above cars as the films screened in the evenings.

A maximum of four people per car was allowed, and mask-wearing was mandatory outside of vehicles.

This week's festival expanded to include Sudanese films in 2018, said British Council country director Bruce Davies, but precautions against COVID-19 prompted a change of format.
