NHS Staff Applaud First Patient to Receive Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine

NHS staff at University Hospital in Coventry, England, applauded the first person in the world to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, December 8.

At 6:31 am, 90-year-old Margaret Keenan, known to friends and family as Maggie, was given the jab by nurse May Parsons at her local hospital, marking the start of the UK’s mass vaccination programme.

Keenan said, “I feel so privileged. It’s the best early birthday present I could wish for because I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the New Year after being on my own for most of the year.”

She said she celebrated with a cup of tea after the jab and encouraged everyone to get vaccinated, ITV News said. Credit: NHS England via Storyful
