Concerns for La Palma Neighborhood as Lava Nears Once Again

A new flow of lava from the La Palma volcano has caused concerns for the island’s La Laguna neighborhood, which has already been evacuated three times since eruptions began in September.

Latest local reports said the lava was 800 meters away from the neighborhood, which is home to around 1,200 residents. The flow, monitors said, could advance again, depending on the level of eruption activity.

By December 1, the Cumbre Vieja volcano’s lava flow had reached 1,163.7 hectares of land and destroyed 2,790 buildings, the EU’s Copernicus EMS said.
