Black Smoke Rises Above Hotel Strip in Waikiki, Hawaii

A plume of thick, black smoke billowed above a strip of hotels in Waikiki, Hawaii, on Sunday, October 17.

Video by @MadElene2016 shows beachgoers on the popular Waikiki Beach looking up at the smoke.

According to local reports, crews responded to a fire near the Moana Surfrider hotel, which was reported just before 11:15 am. The flames were put out shortly after midday and roads near the scene remained closed on Sunday afternoon. Credit: @MadElene2016 via Storyful
