Anteater Uses 'Excellent Nose' to Hunt Down Snacks at Texas Zoo

An anteater used her keen sense of smell to hunt down insects for a nosh at the San Antonio Zoo in Texas.

This video, which the zoo said was filmed on July 28, shows anteater Tammie sniffing a tree. “Tammie the tamandua has an excellent nose for snacks!” wrote the zoo.

Tamanduas, who are part of the anteater family, use their claws to excavate insect nests and their long tongues to slurp up prey, according to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute. Credit: San Antonio Zoo via Storyful
