Amazon-owned MGM creates TV show based on Ring security camera footage

Yahoo Finance anchors discuss a new TV show based on footage from Ring doorbell cameras.

BRAD SMITH: MGM television working on a viral video show. And guess what? It's based on footage from Ring security cameras titled Ring Nation. So the show is a surveillance tinged spin on America's Funniest Home Videos. According to a report in Deadline, the show will consist of neighbors saving neighbors, marriage proposals, military reunions, and silly animals. Of course, both MGM television and Ring are owned by Amazon.

BRIAN SOZZI: Everything about this, everything that we just showed, Brad, shows why I don't want a Ring. This is just weird. Essentially, we're sharing our data, and we're watching a show. It's weird.

BRAD SMITH: Well, you're submitting it.

BRIAN SOZZI: But still.

BRAD SMITH: You get to decide, do I-- like America's Funniest Home Videos style. Was this funny enough? Was this gut busting enough for me to perhaps-- I don't know. Are there winnings that come along with this?
