Yoma Strategic Holdings is poised to become the first company from Myanmar to sell bonds with a baht-denominated offering that underlines Thailand’s appeal as a regional funding hub. "Yoma will be the first Myanmar entity to tap the Thai bond market, and they will come before the sovereign, which is nowhere ready to tap yet," said a Thai government official. The diversified company is among four foreign companies that were given permission in early May by Ministry of Finance’s Public Debt Management Office to sell bonds in Thailand and to take the proceeds abroad.

Yoma Strategic Holdings (Yoma) announced that in 3Q18, net profit increased by 4,916.2 percent year-on-year to $16.8 million, up from $0.3 million for 3Q17. The increase in net profit was a result of disposal gains arising from the disposal of the group’s tourism related businesses as well as higher revenue from its Automotive & Heavy Equipment and Consumer businesses.
Mainboard-listed Yoma Strategic Holdings reflected a significant growth in its net profit for the past quarter, up 71.7% to $3.9m compared to last year. The group said it saw better operational performance across all of its businesses as revenue grew 46.8% YoY to $25.8m from $17.6m. Its consumer business reported a healthy revenue, up 42.1% to $3.1m due to the expansion of its KFC business.
