Starbucks delivery has been available on DoorDash in the U.S. since last year. It also has tie-ups with Uber Eats and Postmates, the food delivery arms of Uber. Starbucks said it witnessed double-digit growth in the U.S. delivery business this past quarter.
SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Brazilian restaurant chain operator Zamp has agreed to buy the rights to operate the Starbucks brand and some stores in the South American country, it said on Thursday, driving its shares higher. Zamp in a securities filing said that the 120 million-real ($22.7 million) deal was signed with SouthRock, the company that currently owns these rights and assets and has been in bankruptcy protection since last year. Zamp, which is controlled by Abu Dhabi state investor Mubadala, operates Burger King and Popeyes restaurants in Brazil, and had disclosed in February it was in talks to buy the Starbucks brand.
