Today, on the final day of September 2020, MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) is opening its last two casinos to public access again, resuming operations at the NoMad Las Vegas and Park MGM facilities. On top of that, the Park MGM is reopening as the chain's first-ever, smoke-free casino resort, adding an ultramodern sensibility to MGM's most recent addition. MGM Resorts says Park MGM ranks among its most popular destinations, mixing casino gaming, dining, and a large resort offering 2,700 guest rooms.
A court on Wednesday approved a settlement totaling $800 million from casino company MGM Resorts International and its insurers to more than 4,400 relatives and victims of the Las Vegas Strip shooting that was the deadliest in recent U.S. history. The action makes final a deal settling dozens of lawsuits on the eve of the third anniversary of the mass shooting that killed 58 people and injured more than 850 at an open-air concert near the Mandalay Bay resort. Clark County District Court Judge Linda Bell, in her brief order, cited “near-unanimous participation in the settlement among potential claimants.”
Casino giant MGM Resorts International is teaming with a firm that provided COVID-19 screenings for the National Hockey League playoffs and a health care provider to high-volume events in an optional conference attendee safety plan at its U.S. hotels and casinos, the company announced Tuesday. A system dubbed “Convene with Confidence” could help conventions and meetings resume, using technology and expert advice collected since the coronavirus pandemic began, MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle said. Almost all 29 MGM Resorts properties around the country have idle conference space and empty convention schedules due to crowd size limits.
