Chip giant AMD (AMD) reported its first quarter earnings on Tuesday beating analysts' expectations on the top and bottom lines, but lighter-than-anticipated guidance for the next quarter sent the stock lower.
Amazon com posted better-than-expected first-quarter financial results, driven by strong growth in the company’s AWS cloud computing business and impressive advertising demand. Microsoft and Alphabet last week posted better-than-expected growth in their cloud computing businesses, each beating Wall Street’s estimates by several percentage points. Amazon Web Services revenue was $25 billion, up 17%, above the Street consensus forecast of $24.6 billion, and the best growth in four quarters.
Dozens of Google workers who were fired after internal protests surrounding a lucrative contract that the technology company has with the Israeli government have filed a complaint with labor regulators in an attempt to get their jobs back. The complaint filed late Monday with the National Labor Relations Board alleges about 50 workers were unfairly fired or placed on administrative leave earlier this month in the aftermath of employee sit-ins that occurred at Google offices in New York and Sunnyvale, California.
