Dow Turns Higher
The Dow joined the other two major indexes by turning higher this afternoon. The Dow was up 57 points, or about 0.1%. The S&P 500 was up 0.5%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.9%. The S&P and Nasdaq were both building on record closes from Wednesday.

S&P 500, Nasdaq Touch Intraday Highs
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite briefly hit their highest levels ever on Friday and were on track to finish the day with record closing highs. The S&P 500 was up 0.2% to 5,548 after hitting 5,551.44 earlier in the day. The Nasdaq was up 0.6% to 18,303.19 and traded as high as 18,307.10.

The Stock Market Opened Today. But Don’t Expect a Ton of Trading.
U.S. stock exchanges were back open on Friday after they closed early on Wednesday and stayed closed on Independence Day yesterday. The Nasdaq was up 0.4%. The daily volume for the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Composite were on average 51.4% of a typical day for their respective years, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
